Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children

This course offers foster carers, teachers, and social workers an overview of the key issues facing unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people. It covers the unique challenges these young people encounter as they navigate new environments. Through this training, participants will learn strategies to better support and advocate for them.

Aims and objectives:

  • Learn about the asylum process​

  • Explore why children and young people leave their home country​

  • Understand the implications for asylum-seeking children and young people

  • Increase sensitivities towards the emotional, physical and educational needs of asylum seeking children and young people​

  • Develop your skills in meeting the needs of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people
