This course will equip fostering social workers with coaching and mentoring skills to develop their supervisory role and relationships.
Aims and objectives:
- Understand the differences in approach and application between coaching and mentoring
- Clarify how these approaches are integral to supervision and support for foster carers
- Understand the key components of motivation and collaboration
- Explore a range of relationship based and collaborative coaching models
- Practice the core skills of coaching and mentoring such as listening and questioning
- Develop a framework for ethical and reflective practice
